2017 Maori Point Chardonnay
Our first release of Māori Point Chardonnay! Made from select 25-year old vines dry farmed beside Lake Wanaka at the Minaret Peaks Vineyard. Hand harvested, foot tread, fermented in french oak barrels by wild yeast for a full year at low temperature, then aged on the lees for an additional three months. Taut, intense, precise and refreshing. Only two barrels made.
Wine critic Sam Kim recently reviewed this wine and awarded it 94/100 points saying, "impressively fruited and fragrant on the nose showing grilled peach, lemon peel, cedar and vanilla characters with subtle smoky complexity. The palate is concentrated and wonderfully weighted, displaying plush mouthfeel and excellent depth of flavour, brilliantly complemented by stylish oak influence and refreshing acidity. A powerful rendition with layers of delectable flavours. At its best: now to 2022."
Technical notes: 13.8% alcohol, residual sugar 0 g/L, pH 3.10. Vegan friendly, minimal sulfites.
