Tasting Notes for this special World Pinot Noir Day vertical:

2020 Estate Pinot Noir: While COVID swept the world, 2020 was a surprisingly calm and moderate growing season that created a beautifully balanced Pinot Noir. Showing deliciously detailed flavours of precise cherry and raspberry interwoven with cinnamon and roasted nuts, look for with highlights of savoury dried herbs as you approach the finish. The silky mouthfeel is supported by refreshing acidity which provides lightness to the palate. Drinking well now, and should continue to improve until 2030.

2021 Estate Pinot Noir: The optimal growing conditions of the 2021 vintage resul in a Pinot Noir with broad, concentrated, and layered flavours that reveal themselves in waves. Nonetheless, the classic Māori Point softness and silkiness on the palate carries this wine, which is reminiscent of the 2013 vintage. Aromas of black cherry and plum entwine with thyme, earth, and savoury notes. The polished tannin framework and elegant acidity provide a light grip and reflect dark herb and earthy notes. Drinking well now, and should continue to improve until 2032.

2022 Estate Pinot Noir: The 2022 growing season was notable for its gentleness - the absence of extreme heat, strong winds, or excessive precipitation. Despite lower maximum temperatures, heat accumulation was quite high due to mild nights, which contributed to an early harvest (beginning April 3). The resulting wine is well-balanced, but more notable for its poise: there is ample energy in the flavours of cherry, red currant, and tart raspberry, and in their interaction with the savoury and forest floor notes that carry through the palate. Vanilla and fine tannins show in the taut yet lengthy finish. Just starting to drink really well, and should continue to improve through at least 2031.
