TTW 3-Bottle Club
Our winter 3-bottle Trust the Winemaker selection from Māori Point's Professors' Club is Pinot Noir focused, as befits the winter weather!
We've packed it with a few wines we're particularly excited about. Let's start with the Dux. Have you ever had Pinot Noir in a can? It's quite rare. The wine world tends to shy away from cans for premium Pinot. We think that's a missed opportunity. At Māori Point, we think the perfect portability and serving size of the can is wonderful, and the cans are much more sustainable than glass bottles.
The Dux is 330mL of deliciously handcrafted Pinot Noir! Harvested by hand, made by wild yeasts, aged in oak barrels, and then put into aluminium cans with no filtering, no processing, and no additives beyond a minimal amount of sulfites. This is natural Pinot Noir, vegan-friendly, ready to overturn expectations of wine in a can.
Although not written on the label, this first production of The Dux is from our 2024 vintage, so these cans are essentially a sneak preview of our 2024 Estate Pinot Noir. Any yes, the wine will age and mature in the can. In fact, because there's less wine than in a 750mL bottle, it tends to evolve a little faster, offering a sneak peek at where the 2024 Estate is headed as it continues to age. Winemaker tip: if you don't finish it, leave the can out overnight and try it on the 2nd day, you may enjoy it even more. If you like The Dux, please spread the word, and help us persuade the world it is possible to have good Pinot Noir in a can!
